Guided tour of a Strasbourg house
Let yourself be guided by the heritage architect in charge of the restoration project and the builder to discover the history of the house.
You can discover one of the last witnesses of the 17th century rural architecture of Robertsau, as well as a presentation of the requirements set for the ongoing large-scale restoration project.
My construction is typical of the rural architecture of the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries, during which the search for general harmony appears, both in the volumes and in the proportions, but also the concern for a pleasant general aspect. My gable is distinguished in particular by a rather rare combination in general, and in any case unique to the Robertsau, of two decorated window sills, one of studs with curule chairs, the other of a rhombus, framing a central panel with figure of «cariatide» remarkable for its form, known as the primitive "Mann", without cock-crested arms."
Major restoration project underway:
« The past brings the future »: to set my requirements, I was inspired by this quote from Victor Hugo
For the past:
- Restore my facades, roof and surroundings as close as possible to their original condition of the seventeenth century;
- Use only natural, ecological, bio-sourced materials and other products.
Looking ahead: - Capture and redistribute all rainwater, limit water consumption by setting up a sanitary hot water loop;
- Ensure the greatest possible energy independence.
I invite you to share this adventure and to live with me, this trip during guided tours Saturday and Sunday.
