Église Saint-Joseph
14 place Saint Joseph 68000 Colmar
  • Haut-Rhin
  • Grand Est
This pink sandstone church in neo-Gothic style, built between 1896 and 1900, bears witness to the Christian architectural revival in a typical style, has an essential role in the development of this working-class district of Colmar, due to a strong industrialization. The construction of this church in the western perimeter of the city is built according to the plans of the renowned architect Charles Winckler, nicknamed «Viollet-le-Duc Alsacien». A heterogeneity of style confers to the church Saint-Joseph a majestic architecture.
The interior of the church offers us an extraordinary panorama of the know-how and ideas of the builders of the time. The Klem workshops, as well as the stained glass windows of the Zettler House in Munich, offer a real artistic treasure. The side altars, the unique Way of the Cross in Colmar, as well as the icon of the Virgin with the Child, challenge visitors throughout the visit.
Church open on Saturday morning and during the services.
