À propos du lieu

Eglise Sainte-Thérèse

The church of Sainte-Thérèse de l'Enfant-Jésus, with the evocative nickname "Notre-Dame-du-Béton", was built between 1938 and 1954 in the heart of the New City. It is an avant-garde building designed as a symbol of Metz. Its architecture due to the architect Roger-Henri Expert is remarkable for its concrete design that renews the sacred architecture. It also shows a series of stained glass windows on a surface of 1600 m² of a unique design (double glass surface on a double cement mesh) and exceptional homogeneity, masterpiece of the Moselle painter Nicolas Untersteller. Its concrete silhouette and its 70-metre spire rise in the city landscape, making this church a construction with modern and unique architecture.
