«Pottery in sandstone, from Alsace and elsewhere» is the exhibition that the museum offers you since May 8, 2022. The exhibition presents the diversity of shapes, patterns and uses of these potteries.
Discover a type of pottery, emblematic of Alsatian folk art. Pottery comes from Saverne, Betschdorf or Westerwald.
You will also be presented the manufacturing technique, imported by potters of the Westerwald in the eighteenth century. It consists in the vitrification of the ceramic by the addition of salt during cooking at high temperature and ensures the unalterable sealing of the pottery and makes it suitable for the preservation of food and liquids.
