The Toul Museum of Art and History, housed in the former House of God from which remains the «Chapel of the Sick» (13th century), presents collections from prehistory to contemporary times.
It consists of 25 themed rooms that the visitor travels through chronologically. A medieval hospital founded by Bishop Saint Gérard in 971 and transformed over the centuries, the establishment offers an ideal setting for its rich and unexpected collections! The «sick room» and its magnificent vaults alone deserve to be discovered! In the Middle Ages, the hall fulfilled the same function as the Hospices of Beaune, to which it is often compared. The astonishing hall of icons (a unique collection in the great East) comes from seizures made by customs, the rooms of painting, with works of François Boucher, Fragonard or Emile Friand well unknown to the public. Also unmissable is the famous Toul-Bellevue earthenware factory, which functioned between 1756 and 1939\. A great name is attached to the museum:
