Maison d'Offwiller
42 rue de la Libération, 67340 Offwiller
The Museum is installed(settled) in a typical house dated of 1782\. Collections redraw the everyday life of a small farmer of Vosges of the North in the 19th century. The house evokes across its typical furniture, its popular imaging, its domestic utensils and its dependences(outbuildings), the environment of the farmer which often exercised a complementary(additional) activity. The agriculture(farming) practised with the aid of the cattle for plowings was a subsistence farming. In the barn are grouped(included) the craft(home-made) and agricultural tools. The cycle of the manufacturing of fabrics(tissues), from the hemp and from the flax, is illustrated by complete tools in working order.
