The parish church, called Saint-Martin, is very old. The first written mention dates back to 977, and indicates the presence of a priest named Uldarich. In 1147, Ammerschwihr is quoted as "parish". The great stone vessel of the sixteenth century suffered many events, including the enlargement of the church in 1911 by moving the bell tower.
Fortunately the destruction of the city of Ammerschwihr, 85% by the bombings of December 1944, spared much of the building, which contains very beautiful statues of the sixteenth century. The council of Fabrique with the support of the association of the Friends of the Chapels of Saint-Wendelin and Saint-Eloi found a site this year for five or six statues of the parish, including a Saint-Pierre and a Saint Paul, undoubtedly coming from the church disappeared from the Meywihr (south of the city), a saint Etienne, a saint Christophe and a saint Anne without forgetting a saint Urbain, patron of winegrowers.
