À propos du lieu

Musée Garinet
13 Rue Pasteur, 51000 Châlons-en-Champagne
  • Marne
  • Grand Est
This partially Gothic building, built in the early years of the sixteenth century, was the residence of the Vidame of the bishop of Chalons from 1599 to the Revolution. In the 19th century, it became the residence of Jules Garinet, a great scholar and collector who set up a cabinet of curiosities. Bequeathed to the City of Chalons in 1897, the Garinet Hotel is a rare example of a collection whose furnishings, works and furnishings are still arranged in their original location. There is a remarkable collection of paintings from schools in the North, France and Italy, drawings, sculptures and art objects distributed according to the tastes of the former owners.
The rest of the year, the museum is visible only by appointment or the first Sunday of each month.
