À propos du lieu

Musée d'art moderne et contemporain de Strasbourg (MAMCS)
1 place Hans Jean Arp, 67000 Strasbourg
  • Bas-Rhin
  • Grand Est
Conceived(Designed) in 1998 by the Workshops(Studios) of architecture AFA, Adrien Fainsilber and Partners, the building(ship) of MAMCS gets organised around a large nave. This real "internal street" distributes several spaces at the ground floor: the route(course) of modern art, the room devoted to the work of Gustave Doré, the cabinet(office) of Graphic Arts and of Photography, a big(great) exhibition hall, an auditorium, a bookshop-shop and the library(bookcase). On the first floor, where is held a restaurant, four successive large rooms are devoted to the presentation(display) of the permanent collections of contemporary art. About 5 000 m ² are so dedicated to the presentation(display) of works. MAMCS assures(insures) an attentive day before(watch) on young creation and reserves in its annual programme of exhibitions(exposures), as in its politics(policy) of acquisition, a place(square) favoured to the plastic surgeons of the new generation. At the rate of three-four exhibitions(exposures) a year, he(it) is identified as a dynamic actor within the French and European institutions.
