Discover the door built in 1746, the last vestige of the urban enclosure of Vitry-le-François. It materialized the western entrance of the city near the bridge that spanned the Marne.

The history of this monument is fascinating, as it is one of the last remains of the fortifications of the city of Vitry-le-François. Thus, in the past, the Porte du Pont was an obligatory crossing point for any traveller coming from Paris and wishing to visit our city.
Several sovereigns had the privilege of crossing it, including Louis XIV twice. The Gate was dismantled stone by stone at the dawn of the Second World War, then moved up much later.
