Discovering the childhood of a Nobel Peace Prize winner.
In his «childhood memories», Albert Schweitzer tells us the anecdotes and places that marked him. The history of Gunsbach, its landscapes, its simultaneous church, have deeply permeated it.
Between his stays in Africa, it is here that he returns to recharge his batteries and built his house welcoming visitors from all over the world.
Follow in his footsteps and discover the places that inspired the ideals of youth to which he was so attached, even to make them the principles of his existence. For as he said: «juvenile idealism is right!»
Guided walk of about 1 hour, departure (10h) and arrival (11h) at the Schweitzer House. A walk for the whole family.

Albert Schweitzer built this house in 1928 with the Goethe Prize. He returned there between his stays in Africa; it was the starting point of his tours of conferences and concerts throughout Europe, which enabled him to finance his village hospital in Lambaréné. This house is today a museum, but also a central archive with thousands of documents, and the headquarters of the International Association for the Work of Doctor Albert Schweitzer of Lambaréné, which has the role of spreading its ethics of "respect for life".
