Musée Archéologique / Palais Rohan

The museum is installed(settled) in the old(former) episcopal palace of Rohan built in the XVIIIth century s. by Robert de Cotte. It is about one of the most important museums of archaeology of France in the field of «national Antiques(Antiquities)» after that Saint-Germain-en-Laye. He(It) presents several millenniums of the ancient history(story) of Alsace and its inhabitants, since the distant origins of the Palaeolithic (600 000 years av(avenue). J.-C.) till the medieval beginnings (800 apr. J.-C.). A route(course) of 1 200 m2 gets organised around four big(great) chronological sections: Prehistory, Protohistory, Gallo-Roman time(period), Merovingian time(period).
