Exhibition "Translation 6th version", the collections of the Museum of Modern Art
During its renovation, the Museum of Modern Art is exposed by rotation to the Museum of Fine Arts and Archaeology. This 6th hanging version presents works that have long remained in reserve and which are revealed through various themes (the portrait, the woman sewing, the flowers, sport, etc.).
The two major figures of the museum are present in this exhibition. André Derain’s paintings are represented within the various themes, including his three fawn paintings. Maurice Marinot is represented by some paintings, as well as by his glass art of the years 1910-1913.
A major new acquisition is also presented to the public for the first time: The Banks of the Thames (or La Plaine),1954, by the artist Maria Helena Vieira Da Silva. Entering the collections thanks to the generosity of a donor, this work offers a new vision of abstraction from the 1950s and 1960s alongside Bissière and De Staël.
This presentation also includes more contemporary works by Claude and Isabelle Monod or Yan Zoritchack in the field of glass and by Ursula Morley-Price for ceramics.
To discover until 31 October.
