Discover an exhibition about the practice of pilgrimage, whose origins are very distant.

In Christianity, it has evolved over time, while still remaining very present in the lives of believers today. The origin of places of pilgrimage, especially in the Land of Langres, the motivations of travellers, faith and devotion, without forgetting the desire to acquire indulgences or the cult of relics, places of welcome on the road, are all themes that are presented in this exhibition. It highlights the long journey in time and space of the pilgrim of yesterday and today.

Couvent des Annonciades Célestes
2 rue Longe-Porte, 52200 Langres

The nuns of the Celestial Annunciations settled in Langres in 1623 and remained until 1984\. The convent was built at the beginning of the eighteenth century: it exudes a «strong impression of balance and harmony; everything says here the austerity of life and the erasure» (G. Viard 1990).
Built in 1684 by architect C.A. Allier and contractor N. Clerc, as indicated by the date on the front cartouche, the chapel is now occupied by the Museum of Sacred Art.
