The castle was destroyed during the Thirty Years' War, but a double enclosure, called a fortified cemetery, still houses a whole district of the city, of an area of more than one ha, which included the parish church, the episcopal castle, noble mansions and a beguinage. The enclosure has been under restoration since 2001.
