The first planetarium on Epinal dates from 1988, but it was in 2002 that it became part of the city’s history by becoming the only large planetarium in Lorraine. Under its 10 m diameter hemispherical screen and equipped with a projector of opto-mechanical stars the Spinalians find the starry sky often forgotten. And yet, long before the great adventure of life on Earth, the starry sky accompanied the formation of our planet. In fact, he is the only witness. That is why, today, it can be considered as one of the world’s main heritage. The night sky, both beautiful and mysterious, has been an inexhaustible source since man stood proudly on his two feet 3.6 million years ago. Also, it was only 3,000 years before our era that people began to develop their methods of observation and prediction. To share this adventure and discover the current astronomical knowledge, the MJC Savouret planetarium is now equipped with a digital system, allowing to immerse the public in the heart of very high resolution images.
