The present church replaces the one of Ionic style destroyed in August 1914, which was implanted at the site of the current town hall.
It was by a deliberation of February 7, 1920, that the city council fixed the new locations of the town hall and the church. In December of the same year, the departmental architect Lemasson in charge of the study, handed over to the municipality the preliminary design of this building but it was not until April 5, 1925 for the laying of the first stone. Like three of the four major basilicas of Rome, the church of Haybes has an orientation in which one finds the entrance to the east and the altar to the west, implantation contrary to the traditional constructions of the churches.
In a modernised Romanesque style, the building built by Gustave Despas (masonry contractor in Haybes) is made of Fépin stone, the cornices and supports are made of Lérouville stone, the basements, porches and bays in Romery stone. Naturally, slate is required for the cover. Th
