Discovery of archaeological reserves and their collections
On the occasion of this heritage weekend, the Centre de conservation et d'étude de Lorraine (Ministry of Culture, DRAC Grand Est) opens its reserves to the public for guided tours, in the continuity of the visits of the neighboring MAP (adjoining building occupied by the Preventive Archaeology Service of the Metz Eurometropolis: cf. specific announcement).
The visitor will discover the different types of reserves in which the objects discovered during excavation on the territory of Lorraine are kept, for their study by researchers or for their loan/deposit to museums. Visits scheduled at 11am, 12pm, 3pm and 4pm, upon registration by email or phone.
Objects from ancient and more recent excavations will be removed from the reserves for the occasion and will be displayed freely, in the presence of archaeologists.
The visitor will also be able to discover the development of a "collections project", an inventory and refurbishment operation of old collections for their future development.
