Gare de la Suzanne

Assigned to industrial work from 1891 to 1914, «La Suzanne» transported mainly materials, but also passengers in mixed convoys.
In 1914, «La Suzanne» was requisitioned, with its mechanical sisters, by the military authority to participate in the supply and evacuation of the wounded; in particular during the hard battles of the Argonne in 1915 and the Battle of Verdun in 1916.
In service on the important railway axis Bar-le-Duc/ Verdun, it competed with all the materials of the Meusian network, and in addition to the Sacred Road, to the supply of men, materials and ammunition of the fortified sector of Verdun.
The railway line known as the "Meusien" or the "Varinot" has, during this period, deployed an activity still unknown until then on a network of this importance.
