Free visit of the new display of the graphic arts cabinet.

After the portraits of the Revolution, the cabinet of graphic arts offers a new presentation. With the artistic movement of romanticism, Man is invited to give free rein to his personal moods. The landscapes visible close to home, the streams, the mountains… All invite themselves into the painting to reflect our inner feelings.
This selection from the graphic arts cabinet shows works by artists from Champagne or Champagne: Pierre Lélu, Louis Cabat, Victor Biennoury, Pierre-Justin Ouvrié... The territory was close enough to Paris and rich in monuments to attract artists from the capital, and endowed with an important artistic tradition so that young local talents decided to devote themselves to drawing.
This presentation, like the previous ones, offers a unique opportunity to unveil a tiny part of the rich graphic collections among the 3200 works preserved. Drawings, pastels, engravings, art photographs… They offer themselves to the eyes in a setting specially designed for them, with a felted atmosphere and a subdued light. Because these works, with fragile techniques and materials, fear light and can deteriorate if they stay too long in the rooms.
The collections managers therefore offer you selections of works, exhibited in turn, in order to allow their transmission to future generations. A great opportunity to visit the galleries!
To discover until 31 October.
