The former Royal and Military College and its garden constitute a unique heritage, attached to the Romanesque abbey of Thiron-Gardais. Created within the abbey in 1630, the College of Tiron (without «h» at the time) was chosen in 1776 by Louis XVI to become one of the twelve Royal and Military Colleges preparing for the Military School of Paris. The fate of the Royal and Military College was linked to that of the monarchy, and the institution closed in 1792\. It then became a private site and was bought in 2005 by the Departmental Council of Eure-et-Loir, then by Stéphane Bern in 2013\. Thanks to colossal restoration work carried out over 3 years by workers and craftsmen from the great lineage of companionship, the buildings revive and the museum opens to the public in 2016\. The resurrection of the garden was entrusted to the famous landscaper Louis Benech. The site now offers visitors an intimate museum, a historic garden and a gourmet tea room.
