Mairie de Tavant
The church of Saint-Nicolas de Tavant is a Romanesque building built between the 11th and 12th centuries, best known for the exceptional frescoes of its crypt. This one can be visited (paid visit) only accompanied by a guide, with conservation constraints (see the event Guided tour of the crypt).
The rest of the church is also interesting, notably its portal of Poitevin type, its architecture marked by several subsequent modifications (including a raised choir) and especially the frescoes of the choir, dated to the same period although more classical by their subject and technique.
