Château-fort du Plaix-Joliet
3 le Plaix Joliet 36140 Lourdoueix-Saint-Michel
The Plaix-Joliet Castle is a medieval building whose origins date back to about 1300\. It is built on a rock and has four round towers from the 14th century, a square Gothic keep from the 15th century and a main building from the 15th and 17th centuries. The castle was invested by bandits in the 18th century, an episode that inspired George Sand to part of his novel "La Roche Mauprat". It is included in the additional inventory of Historical Monuments.
