This year’s JEP theme invites us to reflect on the steps we need to take to protect our heritage. This is what the castle of Champchevrier wanted to illustrate by offering you, in addition to the visit of the place, a film on the restoration of the Grille d'Honneur of the castle that has just ended. This magnificent 18th century ironwork replaced the drawbridge destroyed during the revolution. Its ornament had suffered the insults of corrosion and had to undergo careful restoration. Thanks to this film projected on the big screen and to an interview of the artisans who have implemented the same techniques as in the 18th century, the technique of bombé-repoussé au marteau and gilding, this restoration will no longer have any secrets for you. And, what’s more, you can admire the result for yourself: our Grille d'Honneur still has a few beautiful centuries in front of it!
