Located on the banks of the Loing, the relay of the Poste aux Chevaux de Fontenay was throughout the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries the vital center of this locality located exactly 100 km south of Notre-Dame de Paris. The Association pour la sauvegarde et la valorisation du Relais de Fontenay-sur-Loing, known as the “Relais de Fontenay” Association, has set itself the ambitious goal of preserving and enhancing this historic site by creating a cultural relay with a museum space: • The former Postmaster’s House, with its inner courtyard and the last vestige of the immense stables, will be restored and converted into a natural horse post museum. • An exhibition fair will be dedicated to the works of Paul Fouché, painter of Gâtinais, descendant of the masters of Poste de Fontenay who lived in this residence. • The auditorium will host various cultural activities such as exhibitions, theatre, reading and writing workshops, and concerts.
