Abbé Le Luyer is Trébeurden’s best-known and most revered personality. His little protégé, Jean Louis Hamon, a wildling, taken from poverty by the abbot, became a very great painter of the nineteenth century (now forgotten) with paintings in the world’s largest museums.
Trébeurden possesses one of his first paintings, painted in self-taught form. Painting of which Jean Louis Hamon was the most proud, today classified as a historical monument. A beautiful story of donation and restoration by subscription. A beautiful story of reconquest of a lost heritage…
