"Au fil de l'eau" - second walk and taste

Walk around the heritage of the Chartreuse, and its environment (wetlands ...) to talk about the importance of water and its preservation.

2 appointments possible and free, for family walks around the theme of water on remarkable sites brechois.

  • In the morning, meet at 10am at the Ecomusée de Saint-Dégan in Brech.
    Visits and animations on 3 sites of the municipality, where water plays a different role. Moment of conviviality from 12h, shared picnic at the Ecomuseum.
  • In the afternoon, meet at 2pm at the Chartreuse, on the site of the association Belle Porte.
    Visits and animations on 3 sites. Moment of conviviality from 16:30, tasting shared at the Chartreuse.
    For both events, you will have the opportunity to watch excerpts from the film «against the current», directed by Jeanine Burguin.
    Provide walking shoes, picnic or snack.

    This event is part of the Heritage Days and the European Week for Sustainable Development.

La Chartreuse

The Chartreuse was built following the Battle of Auray which opposed Jean de Montfort to his cousin and rival Charles de Blois, for the Duchy of Brittany.
The confrontation cost Charles de Blois his life and ended the War of the Succession of Brittany.
In 1382, Jean IV de Montfort became Duke of Brittany then built the collegiate church of Saint-Michel du Champ in memory of the dead fighters.
In 1482, the Chartreux settled there, but were driven out under the Revolution in 1791.
In 1814, under the Restoration, the bones of the chouans and the emigrants shot by the troops of General Hoche in 1795, are transferred to the mausoleum of the Chartreuse on which are inscribed the names of the 953 victims. At the time, they had been summarily buried in the «Champ des Martyrs», 500 m from La Chartreuse in the direction of Sainte-Anne d'Auray.
