Haras national de Cluny

At the foot of the famous abbey of Cluny, discover the national Stud farm of Cluny and its residents. More than 200 years of history(story)! Created by the decree of 1806 instituting the imperial Stud farms, the Stud farm of Cluny, today bicentenary, is built in the location of the minster Cluny III. The first standards(stallions) were accommodated from 1807 in the stables of Saint-Hugues, attached to the abbey. The Stud farm is completely included there today. The horse, link between sport and culture, becomes a hyphen between a project mattering from cultural promotion(valuation) of the abbey and a sports pole(centre) validated and hit by the department. The national Stud farm of Cluny is one of the essential elements of the large project, Equivallée Cluny, today connecting(binding) in the same set(group) the Stud farm, the riding school and the racecourse, allowing to receive equestrian events of national fame. Since February 1st, 2010, the national Stud farms and the National School of Riding grouped together to become the French Institute of Horse and of Riding.
