25.000 Werke, die im Wesentlichen zwischen 1789 und 1914 erworben wurden, bilden heute den alten Bestand der Stadtbibliothek.
Die erste Gray-Bibliothek entstand während der Revolutionszeit, nachdem die Graylois zahlreiche Werke und Manuskripte in den Bibliotheken der Lehrgemeinden der Stadt, der benachbarten Abteien und der Häuser der Emigranten gerettet hatten. Sie war für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglich und befand sich im ehemaligen Cordeliers-Kloster.
1859 wurde die heutige Bibliothek neben dem Rathaus errichtet. Als Prunkstätte konzipiert, kommunizierte sie mit dem Büro des Bürgermeisters. Sie öffnete am 1. Januar 1860 ihre Türen.

25,000 books, mostly acquired between 1789 and 1914, now make up the former collection of the Municipal Library.
Gray’s first library was created during the revolutionary period, following the rescue of many books and manuscripts made by the Graylois in the libraries of the teaching congregations of the city, the neighbouring abbeys and the homes of the emigrants. Open to the public, it was located in the former convent of the Cordeliers.
It was in 1859 that the present library next to the City Hall was built. Conceived as a ceremonial place, it communicated with the mayor’s office. It opened its doors on January 1, 1860.

25.000 opere, acquisite essenzialmente tra il 1789 e il 1914, compongono oggi il fondo antico della Biblioteca municipale.
La prima biblioteca di Gray nacque durante il periodo rivoluzionario, in seguito al salvataggio di numerose opere e manoscritti effettuato dai Graylois nelle biblioteche delle congregazioni insegnanti della città, delle abbazie vicine e delle dimore degli emigrati. Aperta al pubblico, si trovava nell'ex convento dei Cordeliers.
Nel 1859 fu edificata l'attuale biblioteca adiacente al Municipio. Concepita come luogo di rappresentanza, comunicava con l'ufficio del sindaco. Aprì le sue porte il 1º gennaio 1860.

25 000 ouvrages, acquis pour l’essentiel entre 1789 et 1914, composent aujourd’hui le fonds ancien de la Bibliothèque municipale.
La première bibliothèque de Gray a vu le jour pendant la période révolutionnaire, suite au sauvetage de nombreux ouvrages et manuscrits effectué par les Graylois dans les bibliothèques des congrégations enseignantes de la ville, des abbayes voisines et des demeures des émigrés. Ouverte au public, elle se situait dans l’ancien couvent des Cordeliers.
C’est en 1859 que fut édifiée l’actuelle bibliothèque jouxtant l’Hôtel de Ville. Conçue comme un lieu d’apparat, elle communiquait avec le bureau du maire. Elle ouvrit ses portes le 1er janvier 1860.

La primera biblioteca de Gray nació durante el período revolucionario, tras el rescate de numerosas obras y manuscritos realizado por los Graylois en las bibliotecas de las congregaciones docentes de la ciudad, de las abadías vecinas y de las residencias de los emigrados. Abierta al público, se situaba en el antiguo convento de los Cordeliers.
En 1859 se construyó la actual biblioteca adyacente al Ayuntamiento. Concebida como un lugar de gala, se comunicaba con la oficina del alcalde. Abrió sus puertas el 1 de enero de 1860.
