From October 2021 to September 2023, along new routes, 33 picturesque towns and villages of Burgundy-Franche-Comté welcome in front of their castles, monasteries or historical ruins, 62 original sculptures by sculptor Robert Schad. In these places chosen personally by the artist, contemporary sculpture meets landscape, architecture and history. She accompanies the spectator on the paths of the region while a red line in natural solid square steel, with a constant section of 10 x 10 cm (hence the name of the exhibition), crosses the countryside. The walker can follow it, discovering new and surprising perspectives on the known places.
In Tournus, in the garden of the Legion of Honor, 3 sculptures are to be discovered: - MOOH 2016 - MATRAK 2017 - REMMEL 2021

Of German origin, Robert Schad has lived and worked since 1994 in the small village of Larians and Munans in Haute-Saône. His sculptures seem to spring from the ground, like giant mushrooms, linked together by an imaginary mycelium. Like the dancers of a sculptural choreography, they are incredibly visually lightweight, despite their weight. These sculptures, made of the same material used for machines and weapons, are far from rigid, they are of an aerial flexibility and purity, animated by a formidable inner energy. We have the feeling that they have grown and grown on the spot like a plant. The segments are straight and articulated, similar to human limbs. They convey a sense of movement despite the rigidity of their construction. As if by magic, this movement suddenly seems to stop, precisely at the moment when the spectator stops there and looks at it.
Robert Schad addresses a wide audience. Everyone has the opportunity to take their own look at the sculptures and develop their own very personal associations of ideas. These sculptures are a three-dimensional invitation to think. They only refer to themselves. They are the result of a sensual experience that accompanies the viewer and stimulates reflection. The creation of their different forms does not come from a sculptural calculation: they are free and three-dimensional, interacting with equally free and spatial lines. This physical and psychological experience, this creativity of total freedom, allowed the sculptures to take root.
