The church of St Martin du Tertre dominates the valley of the Yonne and the city of Sens. The parish is cited from the 10th century. Nicolas de Veres built a church there around 1374\. The very bad condition of the building, reported in 1762, decided Bishop de Luyne in 1769 to have the choir rebuilt. The work was completed in 1779 despite the opposition of some of the inhabitants who preferred demolition and new construction closer to the houses at the bottom of the hill. The church, built on the plans of Gayer, is rectangular in shape and its bell tower-porch is square. It is characteristic of the Senegalese constructions of this period, the bases are in «quarters of piqué sandstone» as well as the buttresses and the chains. The windows are made of brick.
