In the heart of the town of Moulins, in the garden in front of the Anne-de-Beaujeu museum, the visitor is at the center of more than 600 years of history. The Mantin House, an elegant and mysterious construction completed in 1895, reopened in 2010\. To the north: the gallery of the museum, the first example of Renaissance architecture in France. Finally, the medieval castle of the dukes of Bourbon, which rises to the south of the garden. Known in the Bourbonnais as «the Mal Coiffée», the master tower of the castle has long been the highest building of the city, emblem of the power of the Dukes of Bourbon since its construction commissioned by Louis II of Bourbon around 1400..
.This remarkable place is a privileged witness of history, from the Middle Ages to the present day: after the Principality of the Dukes of Bourbon, a part is arranged in housing for wealthy tenants. From the end of the 18th century, the castle became a prison and the rest until 1983.
