Jean-Marie Delavay is a priest born in Les Gets in 1834.
In 1867, he's been sent in China to fill in an ecclesiastical mission and seized opportunity to discover the local flora. Passionate by botanic, he identify more than 200 000 plants, actually at the Natural History Museum of Paris.
In 2017, the Association Jean-Marie Delavay created this botanical garden to pay hommage to the priest and to highlight his discoveries: peony, iris, lilac, rowan, cherry tree...
