À propos du lieu

Château Thomas II de Savoie
73370 Le Bourget du Lac

  • Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes
Located on the commune of Bourget-du-Lac, at the southern end of the lake, the castle was originally only a simple hunting appointment accompanied by a pond, built on a land acquired in 1248 from the Priory of Bourget by Thomas II of Savoy. It is quadrilateral in shape with square towers. The castle retains a military architecture but the security of it was ensured by the marsh that surrounds it, a drawbridge and a ditch. It was, for its time, the most comfortable castle of Savoy. Today, they are vestiges, part of which is restored and is visited with a guide-lecturer of the Facim Foundation.
