The objects presented have been collected since 1865 by members of the Académie de la Val d'Isère. Founded on January 29, 1865, recognized as a public utility on May 21, 1877, the Académie de la Val d'Isère has its headquarters in Moûtiers (Savoie). For more than a hundred years, it has endeavoured to value the Savoyard heritage, and more particularly that of the Tarentaise Valley, applying to the letter the first article of its founding statutes: [...] the study of historical, archaeological and scientific issues. Its work aims in particular to make better known the territory included within the limits of the former Metropolis of Tarentaise, forming today the districts of Albertville and Moûtiers [That was in 1865 , the two boroughs are now one.]”
