Exhibition "9.5 mm. Amateur cinema is 100 years old!"
A century before Netflix, the famous industrialist and producer of French cinema Charles Pathé had the intuition that one could distribute cinematographic works even to private individuals. In 1922, under the name of «Pathé-Baby», the first projector for the general public allowing everyone to project films in their living room. A year later, the first portable cameras equipped with 9.5 mm film reels appeared in French homes… Through a selection of five collections of films of this period and of this format from their collections, as well as many objects and documents, the Departmental Archives propose to retrace this formidable visual adventure.
Throughout the weekend, in addition to the free route in the exhibition, lectures, guided tours and workshops with demonstration of material will be offered to visitors to discover, experience and understand the genesis of amateur cinema.
