«Toulouse at the time of the Second World War»
On the occasion of the Heritage Days, the southern antenna of the Memorial of the Shoah in Paris offers a free itinerary of about 1h30 on the history of Toulouse at the time of the Second World War.
It is organized around the main memorials. It makes it possible to evoke the different forms of Resistance, persecutions and rescues of populations by tracing individual trajectories that remain strong moments of local or national collective memory.
My colleagues and I will guide this route on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 10:30 am and 3:00 pm and on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at 10:30 am and 3:30 pm.
Registration recommended, but not required at the following addresses:

À propos du lieu

Monument à la gloire de la Résistance
Avenue Frédéric Mistral, 31000 Toulouse

The Monument to the Glory of the Resistance is a great work of Toulouse modernism.
The entrance is symbolized by an amazing sculpture of metal tubes. This memorial evokes the Resistance and invites the visitor to a moment of reflection on the tragic events of the Second World War. The route, voluntarily made to mark the spirits, is a tunnel strewn with crypts that evoke the deportees, the shot... Step by step, we go underground, until we are released at the level of the Jardin des Plantes.
Every year, on August 19, at 11 a.m., the sun shines on a plaque commemorating the liberation of Toulouse.
This collective work of the Atelier des Architectes Associés (3A) is remarkable for its design, which combines architecture, sculpture and audiovisual.
