DR

The tower rises close to an old feudal platform, the castle of the Mothe, built by the successors of the leudes of Clovis and the Farm Castle of Saint Presles protecting it to the west. It was attributed to Philibert de Cancry by Denis de Chally under Charle VII then to the Boudreille de Choisy and finally to Monsieur de Brichanteau, powerful lord of Bescherelles then of Nangis in 1661. Located in a marshy area, the greasy grass that is still found there today made it possible to make quality goat cheese.
The lower room, between the ground, is vaulted in eight quarters. It houses a dairy that was used to make butter and to drain cheese in the shelves. It has a circular white marble shelf and a paved marble floor. Upstairs, where one accesses by an external half-staircase, was ripened cheese. The attic was converted into a dovecote accessible by a ladder through two dormers.
Possibility of guided tour: Launch of small groups of ten people starting from the Petit Fort Bayard (Former Syndicat d'Initiatives Cantonal du Montois), Turret of medieval fortifications, bordering the Auxence canal.
Possibility of free visit with or without document to request at the reception of Petit Fort Bayard
