Stained glass workshop, know-how around the construction of churches,

by Dylan Duchaud

In Wimereux, with the partnership of the City, the Association of Friends of the Church has federated local associations for the enhancement of the Heritage (civil, religious, military) to invite you to look up at the VIADUCT and to look at the construction of the railway track in Wimille, with its STATION, which was the decisive element in the genesis of the seaside resort of WIMEREUX (currently classified Remarkable Heritage Site). An independent urbanization of Wimille was created, with its city center, around its CHURCH (currently closed due to restoration). The AEICW also offers some workshops on trades that revolve around the life and construction of churches.
Work of the stained glass windows by Dylan Duchaud

Different techniques over the ages … Created at the beginning of the Middle Ages, the stained glass windows are assembled by lead rods, called in the same way, «lead». This process, although still dominant today, is not the only one in use: other techniques, such as those of copper ribbon (also called Tiffany method, by its designer Louis Comfort Tiffany), of the glass slab embedded in the concrete (such as the claustra of the Church of the Risen Christ), or silicone, glues (with resins or polymers), thermoforming, fusing and free glass stained glass, can be used or combined. A glass window is a stained glass window with a geometric and repetitive design (for example, diamonds or markers). The glazing is generally clear and without paint.
France, a country of cathedrals, has the largest stained glass windows in the world, with 90,000 m2 of stained glass windows.
Dylan Duchaud

The viaduct, built between 1859 and 1863 by engineer Théophile Dobelle on the territory of Wimille, spans the course of the «Wimereux» which gives its name to the hamlet which became an independent town in 1899\. 1862: the decree ordering the extension of the railway line from Boulogne to Calais has just been published opening access to the coastline and to the beautiful era of sea baths.
