The castle of Montaigu is located in the Park of Montaigu. He(It) is a member(part) of the Domain of Montaigu compound(made up) of the Park, the Castle and the Museum of the History(Story) of the iron in Jarville-la-Malgrange.
In 1856, the marquess of Vaugiraud transforms into castle the cottage which he has just bought on a ground of more than 25 hectares, based(established) by the ticket collector of the farms of Lorraine, Don Prévost at the end of the XVIIIth century. In 1920, Suzanne and Edward Salin choose to make the castle of Montaigu their house. A part(party) of the park will be dedicated in 1955 to the foundation of the Museum of the History(Story) of the Iron. The castle is registered in conformance with(for) historic monuments from 1957, facades, roofing and park will be listed(classified) in 1958\. The castle contains the collections of art and of archaeology as well as the furniture of the Saline couple. The castle possesses the label museum of France.
