Sites Jeanne d'Arc
15 rue Jeanne d'Arc, 55140 Vaucouleurs
The Jeanne d'Arc sites in Vaucouleurs include: • the Chapelle Castrale and the Porte de France, rue de Neidenstein, • the Musée Jeanne d'Arc and the Hôtel de Ville, 17, rue Jeanne d'Arc.
On May 13, 1428, Robert, Sire de Baudricourt and Governor of the King at Vaucouleurs, receives a visit from a 16-year-old shepherdess, who came from Domrémy, named Jeanne… On February 23, 1429, escorted by her first six comrades-in-arms, Joan of Arc left Vaucouleurs by the door of France.
The Musée Jeanne d'Arc is currently the only museum dedicated to our heroine. It presents a superb collection of bronzes, posters, stained glass boxes, prints, dedicated to the image of Jeanne through the centuries. The Musée Jeanne d'Arc is labeled «Musée de France».
