It is on the Island of Saulcy on which(where) in 1731 the Assembly of Three Orders of Metz decided to build a theatre in return for of the room of the Real tennis, in Nexirue, inconvenient and low(weak) capacity. This theatre will be built from 1738 till 1758, the City of Metz having appealed to an engineer of the city(estate), Jacques Oger, as well as to best artists and craftsmen(architects) of time(period). On February 3rd, 1752, the theatre of Metz was inaugurated by a big(great) public dancehall and artistic life was thrown(launched) on the current place(square) of the Comedy. The Opera-theatre, of neoclassical style, remarkable for its architecture and its layout(organisation), served as model in many(a lot) small theatres of the XVIIIth century. The Opera-theatre of Metz Métropole is a production site of lyric, choreographic and theatrical shows today. His(Her) know-how - a professional chorus(choir) and a ballet, workshops(studios) of creation of decorations(sets) and of suits(costumes) - allows him(her) to work beside recognised French and European cultural institutions.
