The Maison nationale des artistes, an institution housing dependent seniors, was born out of the wish expressed by Madeleine Smith-Champion and Jeanne Smith in return for the bequest of their property that they wanted to see affected “the creation of a retirement home for artists and writers”. Created in 1945 in the aftermath of the war and administered for many years by the painter Guy-Loë, who gave it its current character and its special atmosphere, it has since welcomed many artists known or less known. Completely renovated in 2000, the National House of Artists is now a private, not-for-profit institution, approved, approved and entitled to social assistance that can accommodate 75 residents, primarily artists but also nogentais or val-de-marnais.
