WORKSHOP Traditional Ukrainian Singing, with Antonina Mitrakhova
On 7 and 8 November, the Ateliers d’ethnomusicologie invite you to discover traditional Ukrainian singing in a workshop led by Antonina Mitrakhova, a Ukrainian singer and ethnomusicologist.

Over two mornings, you will explore a remarkably rich vocal tradition. Through practical exercises, listening sessions and discussion, you will discover the distinctive features of traditional Ukrainian singing, as well as the cultural, historical and social context in which it developed.
Throughout the workshop, you will explore the foundations of the vocal techniques specific to these repertoires and learn several songs from different traditions. These will range from ancient ritual songs, sung with an open, powerful voice deeply rooted in folk practices, to more recent lyrical songs with subtler expressive nuances.
This approach will offer an insight into how a musical culture is passed on through the voice and collective singing. You will be encouraged to develop your listening skills, explore the natural resonances of your voice and experiment with different vocal colours in a friendly and supportive environment.
Open to everyone, with no previous musical experience required, this workshop is suitable both for those curious to discover a vocal tradition and for singers wishing to enrich their practice through an approach rooted in oral traditions.

STAGE de chants traditionnels d'Ukraine avec Antonina Mitrakhova
Places limitées Les 7 et 8 novembre, les Adem vous proposent une initiation au chant traditionnel ukrainien lors d’un stage animé par Antonina Mitrakhova, chanteuse et ethnomusicologue ukrainienne.

Pendant deux matinées, partez à la découverte d’une tradition vocale d’une grande richesse. À travers des exercices pratiques, des temps d’écoute et des échanges, vous explorerez les caractéristiques du chant traditionnel ukrainien tout en découvrant le contexte culturel, historique et social dans lequel il s’est développé.
Au fil du stage, vous expérimenterez les fondements de la technique vocale propre à ces répertoires et apprendrez plusieurs chants issus de différentes traditions. Vous découvrirez aussi bien les anciens chants rituels, portés par une voix ouverte, puissante et solidement ancrée dans les pratiques populaires, que des chants lyriques plus récents, aux nuances expressives plus délicates.
Cette approche vous permettra d’observer comment une culture musicale se transmet par la voix et le chant collectif. Vous serez invité·e à développer votre écoute, à explorer les résonances naturelles de votre voix et à expérimenter différentes couleurs vocales dans un cadre convivial et bienveillant.
Ouvert à toutes et tous, sans prérequis musical, ce stage s’adresse aussi bien aux personnes curieuses de découvrir une tradition vocale qu’aux chanteuses et chanteurs souhaitant enrichir leur pratique par une approche ancrée dans les traditions orales.
