4 Malavenir, 22240 Plévenon, France
The discreet but no less sumptuous garden of Ker Louis will surprise any visitor with its botanical richness and the quality of each of its spaces. Self-taught and passionate, the owner of the place has designed, since the acquisition of his house in 1980, a course that crosses 2 hectares of land. Set in a vegetal setting from which giant gunnera manicata spring, a piece of water with a mirror effect and dressed in white and red water lilies in summer, marks the beginning of the walk. Winding through floral spaces delimited by rhododendron massifs grouped by colors and bordering with camellias, ancient rose bushes and magnolias, the path alternates between opening and closing. Out of a grove, a vegetable garden appears unexpectedly, then emerges a rockery, created in 2021 and concealed by a rich composition of shrubs. To the lush vegetation bordering a long green corridor follows a desert atmosphere where cacti and succulents dominate. Further on, a Japanese-inspired garden invites to an intimate meditation under the cherry trees, azaleas and other maple trees of Japan. Finally, a white-blooming magnolia sayonara closes the course. Spectacular example of soil and composition control, the garden of Ker Louis offers the visitor a remarkable botanical journey.
