History of the castle of Vallegue. Vallegue an old(former) strengthened village describes as such in 1273, the castle of which is the element best preserved. Royal ownership under Philippe III, he(it) passed to the bishop of Toulouse in 1278 which had to keep(preserve) justice to the end of the old(former) diet(regime), to the family Garaud in 1563, then to that of Gavarret in the middle of XVII. He(It) was sold again and again in XIX having belonged to the general of empire Compans of 1808à 1844, to a commander captain Massot, and since 1996 belongs to the same owner who restores him(it). Description The castle consists of the juxtaposition of elements redeveloped in different times(periods) since XIV and owes its unity(unit) to the long 70 metre facade which, with its two tours(ballots) offers the aspect preserved well from an imposing medieval fortification All north facade, reinforced by two foothills-turret and in both towers of angle equipped with archères on three levels. At the end of the XVIIth century, of big work were begun(undertaken) to transform this medieval fortress into pleasant and comfortable home.
