The Church of Our Lady of the Assumption was built in 1859 following the amalgamation of the villages of Avezac and Cadoul, by order of Charles X. It has several remarkable features. It houses five objects classified as Historical Monuments: a painting offered by Napoleon III in 1859, representing Christ in the Garden of Olives, an old pulpit of preaching dating from the late seventeenth or early eighteenth century, from Saint-Alain cathedral in Lavaur and hidden in the village during the French Revolution, a 17th century tabernacle, a family bench and a chalice.
The church also contains other curiosities, such as a huge ceiling fresco by Régis Vialaret de Martrin, depicting the various episodes of the Virgin’s life, Gesta stained glass windows, stained glass windows by Saint Blanquat, a beautiful polychrome Way of the Cross, as well as some stencil paintings from 1898\.
