Acquired by the town of Vanves on the eve of the Second World War, the municipal park Frédéric Pic, whose area is 5.7 hectares, was classified as one of the sites by the ministerial decree of 16 May 1974\. Like the other green spaces in the municipality, it is currently managed by the Direction Territoriale Est de Grand Paris Seine Ouest.
The origins of this beautiful park, which summarizes several centuries of the history of Vanves, are very distant. In the 16th century, Cardinal Antoine Duprat, Chancellor of François I, already owned an estate on this site. At the beginning of the 18th century, a formal garden surrounding a small castle in classical style was arranged for the Duchess of Mortemart. From this period there remain two coolers, one of which was transformed into a chapel at the beginning of the 19th century.
