Seit mehreren Jahrhunderten setzt sich in Südindien die Tradition einer symbolischen Schminke fort, mit der sich die Schauspieler eines Kathakali-Tanztheaters rituell verkleiden, gemäß den Gesetzen einer gelehrten Geometrie und eines unveränderlichen Farbgebrauchs.
Bevor sie die Schwelle der heiligen Mauern überschreiten, in denen die großen Epen des Ramayana und des Mahābhārata dargestellt sind, finden die Schauspieler durch eine langsame und sorgfältige Metamorphose, die als ein Yoga der Kunst gilt, tief in ihrem Inneren wieder-selbst diese geheimnisvolle Ähnlichkeit mit dem wunderbaren oder schrecklichen Gesicht der Götter der hinduistischen Mythologie

For several centuries, the tradition of a symbolic makeup has been perpetuated in southern India, to which the actors are ritually adorned with a Kathakali dance-theater, according to the laws of an erudite geometry and an immutable code of color use.
Before crossing the threshold of the sacred enclosure where are represented the great epics of the Ramayâna and the Mahâbhârata, the actors, through a slow and meticulous metamorphosis, considered as a yoga of art, find in their heartseven this mysterious resemblance to the wonderful or terrible face of the gods of Hindu mythology

Da diversi secoli, nel sud dell'India si perpetua la tradizione di un trucco simbolico del quale si riproducono ritualmente gli attori di un teatro-danza Kathakali, secondo le leggi di una geometria saggia e di un codice immutabile di utilizzo dei colori.
Prima di varcare la soglia del sacro recinto dove sono rappresentate le grandi epopee del Ramayana e del Mahābhārata, gli attori, attraverso una lenta e minuziosa metamorfosi, considerata come uno yoga dell'arte, ritrovano nel profondo-anche questa misteriosa somiglianza con il volto meraviglioso o terribile degli dei della mitologia indù

Depuis plusieurs siècles, se perpétue dans le sud de l’Inde la tradition d’un maquillage symbolique dont se parent rituellement les acteurs d’un théâtre-dansé Kathakali, selon les lois d’une géométrie savante et d’un code immuable d’utilisation des couleurs.
Avant de franchir le seuil de l’enceinte sacrée où sont représentées les grandes épopées du Ramayâna et du Mahâbhârata, les acteurs, à travers une lente et minutieuse métamorphose, considérée comme un yoga de l’art, retrouvent au fond d’eux-mêmes cette mystérieuse ressemblance avec le visage merveilleux ou terrible des dieux de la mythologie hindoue
