The church and its magnificent 40 meters high monumental bell tower-wall in southern Gothic style is the highest in the Tarn. Built from 1381 by Gaston Fébus, Count of Foix and Béarn then lord of Saint-Sulpice. Work on the nave began around 1360. It was a single nave built of brick, in the characteristic style of southern Gothic. It was around 1381 that Gaston Fébus, then lord of Saint-Sulpice, began its construction. At the heart of the Hundred Years' War, the church takes the appearance of a real fortress. At the death of the latter in 1391, the Duke of Berry, new lord of the city stops the works, refusing that the bell tower does not exceed the towers of the castle... After its disgrace, the bell tower will be enhanced according to the original project in the middle of the 15th century. Of all the region, it is certainly one of the most impressive by its vertiginous height, 40 meters high, the highest of the Tarn! Superb gargoyles adorn the side chapels and you can admire the coat of arms of Gaston Fébus on the portal of the church. To see absolutely.
